There was once a time when communicators spoke about the “24 hour news cycle.” Today, it is more like “the 24 second news cyclone” when you consider how quickly information travels on our social media channels. We can no longer say if we use social media - we need to be thinking how well we use our social media in a crisis or disaster to share information with the public.


In this session participants will learn the role social media plays in supporting an emergency, crisis or disaster. We will go into detail



  • The content for a Social Media Policy and plan;

  • How to start the conversation with your stakeholders;

  • What social media platforms to use; and,

  • How to navigate around a “social media crisis” online.
